As the Director of IT at Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital, a project by Global Health Services Limited, I transitioned from Manager of Infrastructure Operations to leading the entire IT department. My core focus has been aligning IT initiatives with organizational goals, leading a highly skilled team, and ensuring that all systems support the hospital’s mission of delivering world-class healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Vendor Management:
  • Held regular discussions with 3rd party vendors to evaluate solutions and assess their fit for hospital IT needs.
  • Oversaw procurement and implementation of key IT infrastructure, including security and network solutions.
Project Coordination & Development Oversight:
  • Led development of the hospital’s in-house Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), ensuring each department’s unique workflows were streamlined.
  • Worked directly with the development team and stakeholders to meet timelines and revise project scopes based on department feedback.
Process Improvement & SOPs:
  • Implemented SOPs, directives, and knowledge bases to reduce dependency on senior IT staff and improve task execution efficiency.
  • Focused on optimizing processes to reduce patient queuing and IT-related bottlenecks, all while staying within budget constraints.
Team Leadership & Training:
  • Provided mentorship and career guidance to staff.
  • Designed role-specific training, expanded staff skillsets, and delegated new responsibilities to foster growth.
Policy & Compliance Management:
  • Ensured IT policies did not hinder patient care but provided a secure, streamlined workflow.
  • Ensured 24/7 staff support availability for continuous IT operations.

Asset Management Implementation:
  • Deployed an open-source asset management system and initiated hardware tagging across approx. 2,000 assets.
  • Standardized request and issuance workflows.
Cost Optimization via Toner & Printing Policies:
  • Deployed tracking tools for toner refilling; introduced discard policies to enhance print quality and reduce cost.
Security & Compliance Enhancements:
  • Oversaw deployment of centralized enterprise security to over 350 nodes.
  • Launched vulnerability scanning for critical IT assets.
Infrastructure Improvements:
  • Setup WSUS to optimize bandwidth usage by centralizing Windows updates.
  • Implemented automated configuration backups for network switches.
Bandwidth & Documentation Optimization:
  • Deployed an open-source firewall to support bandwidth management.
  • Created an internal documentation portal to centralize SOPs and KBs for IT staff.
